I believe it is biblically illogical to deny ANYONE the right to self protection from evil doers. Are there ANY basic necessities that we are to allow for others but not also if possible for our own temple? Food, water, oxygen, shelter, clothes, sleep, protection, help or any kind and countless freedoms? All of those things we are to also provide for ourselves when possible. YET (not) protection of our life?? The Biblical principle we realize, is that we are supposed to take care of brethren and even strangers before ourselves and then take care of ourselves. No one can argue that. Now if the argument remains, that we are to place the criminal life before ours, then why is it that we are not personally feeding the criminals and clothing them and building them houses while we live in our underwear in cardboard boxes? We know that is no argument. We all have a God given right to take care of our temples as much as reasonably possible....so long as we are doing that fairly and responsibly. It is not like we do not have OT examples of saints defending themselves and killing to do so, (without) falling into sin. I realize it is not always ideal or possible and there are many scenarios that can transpire where it just might be the best thing to surrender to an enemy. The question is the right of way. With all Scriptures considered that anyone has been able to bring to the table and the various possible views on each, I cannot imagine that the (harmonization) of scripture, disables us from self-protection. Nay.

https://defytyrants.com/the-doctrine-of-the-lesser-magistrate/Ambroseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00633118107352177160noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778110032837888912.post-91168151211105096122017-11-14T09:30:01.297-08:002017-11-14T09:30:01.297-08:00I do not believe that anyone can believe anymore i...I do not believe that anyone can believe anymore in the Absolute Sovereignty of God and His Absolute Predestination of ALL THINGS than myself. Still I consider it presumptuous and asinine not to prepare ourselves against the evil day in which we live. I am so foolish as to believe that when the Lord told His disciples to arm themselves that He meant for them to arm themselves. I would be ashamed of myself if I somehow convinced a man to disarm himself and not to properly defend his family.

1 Timothy 5:8 -- "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

Nehemiah 4:14 -- "And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses."Greg Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12573698300242148817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778110032837888912.post-83795987935507212952017-11-14T09:05:47.633-08:002017-11-14T09:05:47.633-08:00For another perspective on this subject, see the a...For another perspective on this subject, see the article by Pastor John Chester of Piedmont Bible Church in Haymarket, VA, titled "The Christian and the Gun," at this link:
http://www.parkingspace23.com/christian-gun/#.WgsafDGWz5qJohn Rodenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16374696793904363248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6778110032837888912.post-42675434883581662312017-11-10T05:43:28.142-08:002017-11-10T05:43:28.142-08:00A very good article sir. Always nice to see a preacher of the gospel who understands his obligations as a man to defend himself and those God has given him to shepherd.
Joe Putnam Joe Putnamhttps://godkinandsoil.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
