The new regime in Babylon on the Potomac

Of necessity, this week’s blog will be brief; however I did want to share a few thoughts about the new regime in Babylon on the Potomac.

It’s already obvious that the Imperial Presidency continues to grow unabated. We have just changed emperors.

At last count there were some 12 executive orders signed in the first week of Trump’s presidency. The wars in the Middle East have only been intensified and we now talk of building “safe zones” in Syria; while there is no questions raised as to why we are involved in Syria in the first place. Instead of ending welfare for EVERYONE and watching illegal aliens self-deport, we are planning to build walls and impose import taxes; taxes which will ultimately come from the pockets of American citizens. To top it all off, Washington is now threatening to invade Chicago and impose a Federal solution on the citizens of that city (DC always knows best).

In some cases, the objects of imperial power may have changed. Otherwise it’s just the same old routine: “Meet the new boss; Same as the old boss.”

Executive overreach is now being cheered by the Republicans and bemoaned by Democrats; whereas it was previously cheered by Democrats and bemoaned by Republicans. It’s just a matter of whose ox gets gored this time around. The basic plot never changes.

Freedom, liberty, and self-determination remain forgotten concepts to the new recipients of the mystical powers of DC. And separation from the imperial power still remains the only solution.

Some thoughts on MLK, Booker T. Washington, and Robert E. Lee

It’s always a bit perplexing when mid-January rolls around and America becomes embroiled in its annual veneration of “The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr.”

King was a false prophet, philanderer, plagiarizer, whoremonger, and communist sympathizer (at the very least). His FBI files have been sealed until 2027 (to protect the guilty), but what has been released confirms all these charges. Even some of his closest associates have written of his gutter-level personal morality.

I guess most disturbing in that he is set forth as a “man of God.” King denied virtually all the fundamentals of the Christian faith. His own writings affirm that he denied the deity of Christ, the virgin birth, the vicarious atonement, the bodily resurrection and the divine inspiration of the Scriptures.

King is the only individual that has a national holiday set aside in his honor. I believe that that adoration of such an individual goes a long way to explain the terrible condition of much of the Black community; and increasingly of much of the White community as well.

Many “conservatives” of our day go out of their way to laud King; a man who had not a conservative (or moral) bone in his body.

The Black community deserves better. America deserves better. There are myriad individuals more worthy of recognition and remembrance; a number of them from within the Black population.

One such is Booker T. Washington. He was born in slavery and by diligent hard work he raised himself to become a preeminent leader, successful businessman, and diligent educator.

It should not be surprising to discover that Mr. Washington also warned us of such charlatans such as Michael King (his real name) and the other so-called “civil-rights leaders” that abound today:

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

Perhaps most disconcerting about the observation of a national “Martin Luther King, Jr. Day” is that it has largely displaced, even in the South, the remembrance of one of the finest examples of Christian manhood to have walked on these shores -- General Robert E. Lee, whose birthday is also celebrated on the third Monday of January.

Not only was Robert E. Lee perhaps the greatest military leader to be born in America, he was also a dedicated educator and a sincere and practicing Christian.

Lee often gave testimony of his genuine Christian faith.

When meeting with his chaplains he once remarked: “I can only say that I am nothing but a poor sinner, trusting in Christ alone for salvation.”

His confidence was in an all-Sovereign God, even in the direst of circumstances and the darkest of days, he could relate: “My trust is in the mercy and wisdom of a kind Providence, who ordereth all things for our good.”

He did not question God’s revelation: “There are things in the old Book which I may not be able to explain, but I fully accept it as the infallible word of God, and receive its teachings as inspired by the Holy Spirit.”

Rather he found comfort in it: “In all my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength.”

He wrote some of the most important words of advice any man can receive: “We poor sinners need to come back from our wanderings to seek pardon through the all-sufficient merits of our Redeemer. And we need to pray earnestly for the power of the Holy Spirit to give us a precious revival in our hearts and among the unconverted.”

America would be a far better place if it honored Christian men like General Lee and Booker T. Washington rather than gutter rats like Martin Luther King, Jr.

I close with just one more quote from General Lee, a quote most applicable to the “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”:

“I cannot trust a man to control others who cannot control himself.” ― Robert E. Lee

Sodomites from South Carolina Hired to Jointly Pastor a D.C. Church

I know you’re thinking this must be a United Methodist Church or perhaps Episcopalian or United Church of Christ or maybe Unitarian/Universalist. But you would be wrong; it’s a Baptist Church (at least in name). That church should at least have the decency to call themselves something else . . . anything else . . . other than Baptist.

You can find more details in an article by Joe Kovacs on World Net Daily:
http://www.wnd.com/2017/01/married-lesbians-to-co-pastor-church-in-nations-capital/#LUqP2qSly3OcEMQG.01

You can also read about the depraved pair on the church’s web site:
http://calvarydc.org/meet-our-ministers/

As I said when I shared Kovacs’ article on Facebook, “It’s enough to gag a maggot.”

Here’s a picture of the happy couple.

Maria Swearingen and Sally Sarratt (courtesy Calvary Baptist Church)

One of my friends commented: “aint dat jus peachy and they look sooo happy! they have no clue what awaits them.”

However one idiot, thoroughly steeped in Amerikan “culture” commented: “I don't know...I think it’s kinda hot”. To which I replied: “So is hell, Doug, so is hell . . .”

Kovacs included several Bible verses which condemn sodomy within his article. Ironically, he quoted from a modern perverted translation (The Living Translation). I believe that modern translations, such as the NLT have helped open the door to such widespread perversion within nominal “Churchianity.”

Below, I share those verses below from the King James Bible:

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. – Lev. 18:22

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; -- Romans 1:26-28

Do you know any folks who use the King James Version and promote sodomy? No, I didn't think so.

Well at least we will soon have someone in the White House who does not embrace and promote such depravity. America has been saved! Isn’t that right all you good Christian Trump voters?

Whoopsie!

Take the time to read Romans 1:18-32. You will discover that sodomy does not bring God’s judgment – IT IS God’s judgment.

Amerika has been given “up unto vile affections” and “a reprobate mind”. We are getting exactly what we deserve, or as Paul says: “receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.”

Yes, you can stick Amerika with a fork. It’s done.

Why is it 2017?

Last weekend most of us marked the beginning of a new year. Some of us even stayed up until midnight . . . though I was long asleep before that transformative hour.

But how often do we stop and contemplate why it is that we call this year 2017?

It is not that the earth was created a little over 2,000 years ago. Even those of us who are convinced in a young earth believe that our planet has been around for about 6000 years, or perhaps for a bit longer. Indeed, the Jewish religious calendar that professedly numbers from creation is currently in the year 5774.

Nor is it 2017 because the United States of America has been in existence for that long, though I recently read that many Twitter users believed that New Year’s Day 2014 marked the 2014th birthday of America.

Attempts have been made in various places and times to institute alternative calendars, but they have met with very limited success.

The Muslims have their own calendar in which this current year is 1438, as their years number from the emigration of Muhammad from Mecca to Medina. But Wikipedia notes that even in Muslim countries the date is kept “concurrently with the Gregorian calendar” (the calendar the rest of the planet uses). In fact, I found several calendars online designated “Islamic Calendar 2017.” So, even the Muslims acknowledge this year to be 2017.

As a result of the bloody and anti-religious French Revolution, the new government imposed a calendar which counted from that revolution. But in France today it is 2017, and I think you would have a difficult time convincing a Frenchman otherwise.

As noted above, Israel has a “religious” calendar that dates from creation (at least as they have reckoned), but generally they go by their “civic” calendar, in which it is 2017.

North Korea’s official calendar dates from the birth of their first communist dictator, Kim Il-sung, born in 1912, but generally they too use the same calendar that we do in most of their dealings, and acknowledge this year to be 2017.

Other examples could be cited, but they have all proven insignificant and/or unsuccessful.

So, we return to our initial question. Why is it 2017? And more specifically, why is it A.D. 2017?

A.D. abbreviates the Latin Anno Domini which means “in the year of our Lord.” Yes, the calendar we use; the calendar the entire world uses; dates from the coming of Christ.

The fact of the matter is, we count our years from the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. His birth is the dividing line of history. And the years previous to his birth, we count backwards and designate as B.C. (Before Christ).

Jehovah God became man, and from the human perspective, everything changed; though the three-persons of the God-head had decreed that this would come to pass in the everlasting and eternal covenant.

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, -- Hebrews 13:20

It was decreed that the Second Person of the God-head would become man; that He would be born of a virgin; that He would He live a sinless life; and that He would be crucified and die. It was decreed that God the Father would pour out His wrath upon God the Son as He hung upon a cross; and that He would suffer in the stead of all those who were given to Him in that everlasting covenant.

As the Angel of the Lord told Joseph:

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. – Matthew 1:21

And more than this; after Christ made that complete atonement for all the sins of all the elect; and after the justice of God was completely satisfied; Christ would raise victoriously from the grave, demonstrating the acceptance of His sacrifice on the behalf of His own.

As I contemplated these things, the text of my commissioning as an officer in the US Marine Corps came to mind.

At the end it reads:

“Done at the City of Washington, this NINETEENTH day of JULY, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and SEVENTY-TWO, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and NINETY-SEVENTH.

So, even the US Government acknowledged that it was “THE YEAR OF OUR LORD.”

As far as I can determine, that wording still appears on the commissions of US military officers; though oddly enough the language about the year of US independence has been eliminated.

Indeed such is reflected in the text of the US Constitution, which concludes with:

“Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the twelfth....”

With the foregoing in mind, I would encourage each of us to think upon the One from Whose coming we number our years every time we write “2017” this year. Think on the One who reset our calendars; the One is soon coming again; and before Whom, all will eventually bow – one way or the other.

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -- Philippians 2:10-11

Those who embrace Him not as Lord and Saviour will ultimately face Him as Conqueror and King and Judge.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. – 2 Thessalonians 3:18
