Nothing Short of Blasphemy!

We have a local internet news site that covers several of the more rural counties here in North Central Florida.

This publication has a section called “The Christian Press.” Within it are published daily devotionals and weekly religious columns. There was a recent entry originally published in 1942 taken from the book Strength for Service to God and Country. This particular article was written by a Methodist minister and in it we are told that “God Needs You.” The omnipotent, sovereign God of the universe “needs you”! Really? Think about that. That is, if you can do so without becoming physically sick.

Specifically the so-called “reverend” who authored this article tells us: “Christ needs you. In certain places even He must fail unless you are true to Him.”

I can cause Christ to fail? What supernatural powers I must have!

Indeed he assures us that: “Christ would mean little to thousands of people, if He had not had E. Stanley Jones.” [A famous Methodist preacher]. We are also assured that but for Albert Schweitzer, Christ would have meant nothing to additional multitudes.

Such human arrogance is blasphemous! Jesus Christ “needs” nothing. Jesus Christ “needs” no one. I am thankful that He deigns to use us poor, miserable, and sinful creatures to His glory, but he “needs” none of us.

He WILL MOST CERTAINLY save ALL of His people from their sins -- with or without E. Stanley Jones or Albert Schweitzer or you or me.

Matthew 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

HE SHALL save HIS PEOPLE from their sins. HE SHALL!

The Lord is abundantly clear that ALL that were given Him of the Father, in the everlasting covenant, SHALL come to Him.

John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Just suppose (humanely speaking) that Queen Esther had not heeded God’s leading. Would God have failed in His plans?

Listen to the words of Mordecai:

Esther 4:13-14
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

God ALWAYS accomplishes His decreed will. He is not dependent upon any man. He NEVER, NEVER fails to accomplish whatever He has determined.

What a weak and puny god some folks worship! Hardly worthy of worship at all!

God does not need your stinkin’ human efforts.

Psalm 115:3
But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased.

Psalm 135:6
Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did He in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

Isaiah 46:9-10
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.

Ephesians 1:11
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will.

What extreme arrogance to think that a mere man can somehow thwart the eternal will of God!

Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

Proverbs 19:21
There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Isaiah 14:24,27
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand" . . .For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

Get this through your little pea-brain. GOD DOES NOT NEED YOU!

He has, however, deigned to use us and we are accountable to obey and to do His revealed will. But, even that obedience is of Him.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

All glory to God – and NONE to the creature!
