My wife and I recently visited my mother in the Conyers, Georgia area for an early Mother’s Day. 

While on an excursion just north of the city, I noticed the Almand family cemetery, a small and somewhat overgrown cemetery. I am always on the lookout for the distinct Confederate headstones and immediately I saw several. Confederate stones come to a point at the top, as opposed to the rounded top found on the stones for US veterans. (See the stone below for 1^st Sergeant James T. Almand, CSA, who died on April 4, 1864.)

Long ago I was told that the Confederates had a point on top of their stones to keep damned yankees from sitting on them.

I did not get an exact count, but I would estimate that there were at least thirty Confederate Veteran headstones. Close to half of the men beneath them had died during the years of the war.

One particular group of headstones stood out -- five stones, all in one neat row.

One was dated May 16, 1862; the other four simply indicated 1862.

Five young men from this small community north of Conyers, perhaps brothers or cousins (three of the five stones bore the name Almand).

These young men laid down their lives in a struggle against alien invaders. They knew exactly what they were fighting for. They were fighting for their family, for their homes, for their culture and for their way of life. They were very much like those men addressed by Nehemiah as the Jews rebuilt the walls around Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 4:13-14: Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.

On the other hand those in the US military today are simply imperial storm troopers (as were those yankee invaders in the 1860’s). They go and fight whom and where they are told with no real connection to home and family. I know the claim is that they are “fighting to keep us free,” but it’s hard to believe that anyone really believes that. Are folks in Amerika so brainwashed as to believe that they are free? Do the sheeple in Amerika even have any idea of what true freedom would look like?

May we all look to those five young Confederates and be prepared to give ourselves for our brethren, our sons, our daughters, our wives, and our homes.

But Southern mommas, “don’t let your babies grow up to be imperial storm troopers!”

Origin of the so-called “Christian Flag” and of the Pledge to that Flag

The so-called “Christian Flag” was the brain-child of Charles C. Overton, the Sunday School Superintendent of Brighton Chapel, Coney Island, New York. Brighton Chapel was affiliated with the Congregationalist Church.

The Congregationalist Church grew out of New England Puritanism and became prominent in various liberal social movements including Abolitionism and Women’s Suffrage.

It is safe to assume that Mr. Overton would have maintained a low opinion of the Confederate cause and of Southerners in general.

Overton organized a great Patriotic Sunday School Rally that was held on September 26, 1897. No doubt US flags were much in evidence and it is recorded that the pulpit was draped with such a flag. This was still the era of “waving the bloody shirt,” and it could be anticipated that there would be much rhetoric against the South and its Cause during what the yankees called “The War of the Rebellion.”

Much to Mr. Overton’s displeasure, his invited speaker failed to arrive and he himself was forced to address the large assembly of youth without having opportunity to prepare.

Overton used the flag draped over the pulpit as inspiration and illustration. He began by speaking in detail of the meaning and symbolism of the US Flag. As he proceeded he began to contemplate and expound upon the creation of a Christian Flag, which would be derived from and styled similarly to the US Flag. One source indicated that: “In the heat of patriotic fervor, Overton wished out loud for a flag that could represent all of Christendom.”

Of course, a flag that represents “all of Christendom” cannot represent true Christianity, for the vast majority of “Christendom” is far removed from Biblical Christianity. In particular that variety of “Christendom” practiced amongst the liberal Congregationalist churches of the north and their embrace of the “social gospel” bears only passing resemblance to New Testament Christianity.

Most sources indicate that Overton, with the assistance of a seamstress, completed the flag he envisioned and presented it to his congregation the very next Sunday, October 3, 1897.

During the early 1900s Overton, with the assistance of Ralph Diffendorfer, actively promoted the usage of his so-called “Christian Flag” amongst the churches of the north.

Diffendorfer, who was the secretary to the Methodist Young People's Missionary Movement, was born in Hayesville, Ohio and educated at the liberal cesspools of Ohio Wesleyan University, Drew Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary.

In 1908, Dr. Lynn Harold Hough, wrote the pledge to Overton’s “Christian Flag” after witnessing one of Mr. Diffendorfer’s promotional presentations.

Dr. Hough was another extremely liberal northern Methodist clergyman. His views on Evolution brought controversy even amongst northern liberals and in 1925, charges of heresy were brought against him in response to his sermon entitled: “Charles Darwin, Evolution and the Christian Religion.”

Hough’s liberal views caused him to strongly support the entry of the US into the League of Nations and when that action was opposed by the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hough lambasted that group, asserting that they should instead be called the Daughters of the KKK (March 1928).

Hough’s liberal and ecumenical background explains the broad and ambiguous pledge that he wrote:

• I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands; one brotherhood uniting all mankind in service and love. 

The one-world ecumenical universalism promoted by Hough’s original pledge is contrary to Biblical Christianity, American Constitutionalism and plain common sense. Indeed it sounds very much like a “pledge” that might have been recited at the Tower of Babel, when mankind first attempted to unite in a universal effort to lift themselves to heaven by their own combined endeavors.

Many other pledges to Overton’s flag have been authored since, all patterned after Hough’s original:

• I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands; one Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty to all who believe.
• I affirm my loyalty to the Christian Flag and to our savior whose cross it bears, one spiritual fellowship under that cross, uniting us in service and love.
• I pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands; One Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and Liberty to all who repent and believe The Gospel.
• I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands; One brotherhood, uniting all true Christians in service and in love.
• I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the gospel for which it stands; One Savior, crucified, risen and coming again, with life eternal for all who believe.

I have no doubt that the pledge was altered with the best of intentions, however, as a Christian, as a Baptist, as a Southerner, as an American, I cannot endorse any of the various forms of that pledge, nor the flag they attempt to honor.

As the Catholics already have their Papal Flag, Overton’s flag became widely known as the “Protestant Flag.” However, today Overton’s flag is increasingly used in Catholic churches as well.

According to various authors Overton’s “Christian Flag” is:

• Accepted by the Mainline Protestant denominations in the United States.
• Part of Christian culture in America, without regard to denomination, creed, or affiliation.
• Displayed in some 244,000 churches.
• Seen today in or outside many Protestant churches throughout the world, particularly in Latin America and Africa, as well as some Roman Catholic churches. . . Eastern Orthodox, and other branches of Christianity have only recently started to use the flag.

Personally, I cannot display Overton’s “Christian Flag” for a multitude of reasons. Amongst them:

1. I strongly oppose the ecumenism associated with the flag.
2. As it is properly designated a “Protestant flag”, it is inappropriate to display it in a Baptist church, as true Baptists are not Protestants and never have been such.
3. The flag is very closely associated with the US flag and with the shallow and mindless “patriotism” associated with that flag and with the pledge to the flag.
4. The flag and its pledge are steeped in northern liberalism, abolitionism, theological liberalism, ecumenism, one-worldism, etc.
5. Baptists reject the concept of the Universal Invisible Church, which is promoted by both Overton’s Christian flag and Hough’s pledge to it.

As I see it, for me to display, embrace or pledge to Overton’s “Christian Flag” would be to tread underfoot my Baptist and Southern forefathers.

Concluding Food for Thought:

As I understand the Scriptures, I believe that in the not too distant future there will arise a one-world government and a one-world religion. I see no reason to doubt that both this government and this religion will embrace the so-called “Christian Flag.”

I am also certain that the Anti-Christ will not embrace the banners bore by our forefathers in their struggles for freedom and liberty -- St. Andrew’s Cross, the Confederate Battle Flag, the Gadsden Flag, etc. That is why I choose to display these banners, in lieu of the Striped Rag of the Empire (the US Flag) and Overton’s so-called “Christian Flag.”

Thank God for the Confederate Soldier

Thank God for those men that were willing to stand up against a Leviathan federal government and if need be to give their lives to preserve their families, their property and their culture.

May the Lord be pleased to raise up such men in our own time as the struggle against Leviathan continues on.

Every year we observe Confederate Memorial Day at Landmark Baptist and Free Florida First with many like-minded folks.

By the Grace of God, we will continue to remember those brave souls who served before us. As the Lord allows, we will take up their banners and their mantles.

Furthermore, we intend, as best we are able, to pass on the values, beliefs and heritage of those Confederate soldiers to our children and grandchildren, who follow us.

Future Southern generations should not fight for the Amerikan Empire, but for God and their Rights. Even as was displayed on the Battle Flag of my Great-Great-Grandfather’s unit, The (Florida) Marion Light Artillery.

Let us fight for our brethren, our sons, our daughter, our wives and our houses!

No Striped Rags at Our Confederate Memorial Day

Well, folks, I’ve been occupied this week preparing for Confederate Memorial Day. I’ve hardly had time to compile my weekly paper, much less to set down any profound thoughts.

Amongst other things, you find a large display of historical flags. You’ll see the Betsy Ross flag (designed by the Southerner, George Washington).

You’ll see the 15 striped “Star-spangled Banner” of which Southerner Francis Scott Key wrote his memorable poem.  Ironically the tyrant Ape Lincoln imprisoned two of Key’ grandsons within the walls of Fort McHenry when they voice opposition to his unconstitutional and immoral invasion of the South.

You’ll see the Florida secession flag of Col. Wm. Chase, who removed the multiple stars of the failed union from the blue field of the US flag and replaced them with the single-star of a Sovereign and Independent Florida.

You will not see any modern US flags. We do not honor the flag of the invaders of our country, not on this day or any other day.

Quite simply: “Ain’t my flag; Ain’t my country.”

Nor will we ever pledge allegiance to the tyrannical union by reciting a “Pledge of Allegiance” written by a South hating, socialist yankee.

Well, I’ve already written more that I intended  to. I will close with a thought from R. L. Dabney, Southern pastor, theologian and Confederate officer, who served on the staff of Lt. General T. J. “Stonewall” Jackson. His words express my thoughts exactly.

“What, forgive those people who invaded our country, burned our cities, destroyed our homes, slain our young men, and spread desolation and ruin over our land? No, I do not forgive them.”

Invitation to Confederate Memorial Day at Landmark Baptist Church

On Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, Landmark Baptist Church and Free Florida First will be celebrating Confederate Memorial Day.

You are cordially invited to mark this solemn occasion with us.

We do not mark this day simply because some of our ancestors served in the Confederate Armed Forces. Many who will celebrate with us have no Confederate ancestors. We mark this day because those who fought against the northern invasion were right in their actions and pure in their motives.

We do not seek simply to remember those who struggled against the Amerikan empire in the 19^th Century, but  as our ancestors noted in the Declaration of Independence in the First War for Independence, “we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor” in the struggle against Leviathan in the 21^st Century.

Come out and encourage yourself and others as you fellowship with like-minded Southern patriots.

Confederate Memorial Day

In Florida, Confederate Memorial Day, April 26^th, is a legal state holiday.  By an act of the US Congress, Confederate soldiers are officially recognized as American Veterans. In 1900 a red St. Andrew’s cross was added to the Florida State Flag as a remembrance of our Confederate ancestors and defenders.

In spite of these facts, our carpetbagger governor and the scalawags and carpetbaggers in his cabinet have denied the induction of three Confederate veterans into the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame. This is a despicable, dishonorable and unforgivable action -- but what else would we expect from devotees to the party of the tyrant Lincoln?

Of all American veterans, the Confederate soldier is the most worthy of remembrance and recognition. Florida Confederates were fighting in a fully justified defense of home, family and state. The unionist forces that opposed them were, quite simply, immoral invaders and imperial storm troopers.

On April 25^th and 26^th, Landmark Baptist Church and Free Florida First will mark Confederate Memorial Day. We will remember those who valiantly fought for our rights and liberty against the Amerikan Empire.

It is altogether both fitting and proper that we remember the Confederate soldier. We shall continue to do so, so long as the Lord gives us the strength to oppose the ungodly forces of political correctness.

Standing for Liberty

The recently enacted “Indiana Religious Freedom Law” has caused all manner of controversy. The Indianapolis Star summarizes the confusing text of the law thusly: “The religious freedom law says the government cannot intrude on a person's religious liberty unless it can prove a compelling interest in imposing that burden and do so in the least restrictive way” (emphasis added). So, government cannot impose upon your deeply held religious convictions, unless it determines that it has an interest to do so. In essence, you are free to hold your religious convictions unless government decides that you are not. The law means absolutely nothing and accomplishes absolutely nothing. 

One conservative political commentator called for us to “Stand with Indiana.” That’s a difficult thing to do when Indiana’s governor and legislators are explaining, backtracking and retreating as fast as they can. How can one “Stand with Indiana” when it is apparent that Indiana and its leaders have no idea where they stand? Indeed the politicians in Indiana have already modified the law to specifically prohibit a business from denying service to sodomites. So now a meaningless law has been made a positively evil one. 

The essential issue is not religious liberty or discrimination against sodomites. It is human liberty and human rights. Man is created in the image of God. In the realm of human affairs, a man possesses ownership of his own person and is he entitled to the fruits of his own labor. To require that a man labor on the behalf of another when it is contrary to his own will is nothing less than slavery. 

If the owner of a restaurant does not wish to serve blacks, he is perfectly within his rights to do so. If a Black congregation determines that it does not wish to admit Whites to its services, they have an absolute right to do so. Should a Christian baker not wish to lend his talents to baking a cake for a sodomite sham marriage, he should not be compelled to do so. The rights of free association and of the control of one’s own labor and property are fundamental human rights, in spite of tyrannical human laws to the contrary. 

Many corporations, governments and organizations went on record as opposing the Indiana law. As a lover of liberty, I will avoid interaction with these self-avowed thought-tyrants and enemies of liberty. Prominent amongst these entities were most major sports organizations. 

I’ve been a race fan since I was a kid, but I’m done with NASCAR. Likewise the NFL, the NCAA, IndyCar, etc.

Unfortunately, many folks in the liberty movement and many Christians consider sports to be more important than liberty and/or Christian convictions. So the masses will continue to be occupied with “bread and the circuses” as their liberties vanish into thin air.

 As the Roman poet, Juvenal noted: 

… Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses. -- Juvenal

I believe that this country is finished. The Apostle Paul notes in Romans 1:18-32 that sodomy is the judgment of God upon a people. It does not bring God’s judgment -- it IS God’s judgment. Amerika is already under the judgment of God. I do not, however, intend to go quietly into the night of Amerikan tyranny. I believe that the Lord would have me to resist the surrounding evil until He is pleased to take call me home.
