Murder is a spiritual and a heart problem

I suppose that many of you grew up going to Sunday school and church. Regardless, most of you have heard the story of how Cain became the first murderer by killing his brother, Abel.

Were I to ask you how exactly was Abel murdered, most of you might reply that Cain crushed his head with a stone. That is what is most commonly believed, but that is just one possibility. Interestingly the Scriptures never reveal the means that Cain employed to murder his brother.

Genesis 4:1-8
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.  (2)  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.  (3)  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.  (4)  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:  (5)  But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.  (6)  And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?  (7)  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.  (8)  And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

There is much we could learn from this narrative, but I will focus on one detail in this article. God does not have us dwell upon the instrument that Cain used to murder his brother, but rather upon the wickedness of Cain’s own heart and the depravity of fallen mankind. Cain is described as being angry (wroth) and resentful and pouting (countenance fallen). Cain seethes until he finally murders his brother. The instrument is essentially irrelevant and not even mentioned in Scripture.

The Apostle John gives us a bit more insight into Cain’s spiritual condition:

1 John 3:12 
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

Cain was in rebellion against God and he hated his brother just because he sought to walk in accordance with God’s revelation. Abel was one of God’s elect and the reprobate and Christ rejecting Cain needed no other reason to hate him.

The point I want you to notice is this: Cain’s real problem was a spiritual problem. It flowed from his own fallen and depraved heart. The real problem was the wickedness of fallen mankind. It was not the instrument or the tool used in the murder.

Some old traditions hold that Abel was slain with the blade of a plow. Other traditions hold that he was slain with a sword, or with the jawbone of animal, or as we have already mentioned with a stone. One tradition that makes a great deal of sense to me is that Cain killed Abel with the very knife that Abel used to slay the animal that he sacrificed to God.

Regardless, it is clear that the problem did not reside in the instrument, but in a wicked heart. The instrument is never mentioned in the Bible.

Thus it remains today. The problem with the mayhem we see in our depraved culture is not firearms. The problem is the wickedness and depravity within mankind.

God alone can cure that and will cure it within the hearts of His elect, even as He did within the heart of Abel.

Support the troops? How about we just bring them home?

It seems that however wrong, immoral, and just plain wrong-headed Amerikan governmental policy may be, most folks still advocate that we should “support the troops.”

Personally, I fail to see the difference between the attitude depicted in the cartoon above and that exhibited in a recent meme posted by one of my Facebook “friends.”

  

I do not support the US military. I do not support the empire that sends them on their immoral, illegal, and unconstitutional excursions.

I do not hate them. I do not wish them ill. I recognize that the bulk of them are deceived and deluded pawns of the Amerikan Empire – But I certainly do not view them as “heroes” of any sort.

I personally served the evil empire for eight years as an infantry and intelligence officer of US Marines. I was college educated, at government expense, but I was ignorant and unthinking. I was willing to go wherever I was told to go and do whatever I was told to do, without really giving any consideration to the underlying reasons.

I was simply an order follower.

I am thankful that the Lord spared me from personally committing some of the worse of the crimes that soldiers are often called upon to commit. I am also thankful that there can be forgiveness for those who may have committed such crimes.

I was a Vietnam era veteran, but I was never “in country” or engaged in combat. My military record cannot compare with that of Marine Major General Smedley Butler, who is one of only two Marines to have been awarded two Medals of Honor.

General Butler had much to say of his time in the military and of how he eventually came to view it: 

* My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military.

* I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. . . . Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

* WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the

losses in lives.

General Butler was not a pacifist. He understood that there are things worth fighting for; he just knew that those were not the things that the US military was used for:

* There are only two reasons why you should ever be asked to give your youngsters. One is defense of our homes. The other is the defense of our Bill of Rights and particularly the right to worship God as we see fit. Every other reason advanced for the murder of young men is a racket, pure and simple. I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else.

We learned of General Butler’s military prowess and courage in our studies of Marine Corps history, but we did not learn of the views that he ultimately came to embrace.

Do I support the troops? Perhaps not, but I do have pity and sympathy for the ignorant and unthinking among them. I was once such myself. And I certainly do support bringing them all home. NOW!

“Following orders” was not an acceptable defense at the Nuremberg trials.

More importantly, there is a God in heaven and there will be an accounting. We are all accountable before Him for our actions, regardless of any “orders” we may have received.

So, I say again, as I have oft said before:

Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be Imperial Storm Troopers.

If we “honor and support the troops”, we are, by deed and word, encouraging young Southerners and young Christians to join the Empire military. By the Grace of God, I hope to never be guilty of such a thing.

Each individual is accountable for his own actions, whether he is wearing a government issued costume or not. May we keep this truth before ourselves and before those with whom we have any influence.

Busybody -- Meddling -- yankee Carpetbaggers!

My wife and I recently made a trip to Gainesville. I dropped her off at TJ Maxx and  proceeded to one of the local gun stores. On returning to pick her up, I parked my vehicle and went into the store.

When we returned to the vehicle, we had a lovely “love note” under the wiper of our 1997 Rodeo.

I understand that there are positives and negatives to putting pro-Southern stickers on your vehicle, but I long ago determined that I would do so to reach and encourage others, if for no other reason. I suppose I’m fortunate that we were in a crowded parking lot, as there is no telling what this Social Justice Warrior might have done otherwise.

Anyway here’s how that vehicle looks (front, side & rear):

You may have noticed that my admirer could not even properly spell loser, which leads me to suspect that he was one of the brilliant students from the nearby University of Florida.

Now I’ve never felt compelled to leave notes to folks who sport Hillary stickers or Coexist stickers or Bernie stickers, etc., though I have never been a carpetbagging yankee, so I that might explain my lack of motivation. I just don’t care what other people think and do, so long as they leave me alone and don’t infringe upon my rights.

So, here I am in North Central Florida. I had direct ancestors who served in several different Confederate units from this very area of Florida. So, why should I not honor and remember them?

And yes, it’s true that I hate the yankee empire and its striped rag, but again, why should that be surprising? Or why should that be any business of this yankee?

You know, if the yankees don’t like the folks they meet down here, they could just go home. This ain’t their land. This ain’t their people. You would think that they could just behave as well-mannered guests, but then again -- they are yankees. The Southern humorist, Lewis Grizzard, had some choice words for them: “If you miss it so much, Delta is ready when you are!”

On a related -- and even sadder--  note, Free Florida First just had a booth at the Chiefland Watermelon Festival. Many folks were genuinely happy to see us there and had nothing but words of encouragement. I was, however, befuddled by reaction of one man. He had actually marked his arm with a tattoo of the Confederate Battle Flag. Yes, I understand that the practice is thoroughly pagan, but I also understand that some folks attempt to make a statement out of sincere ignorance. Regardless, he came to our booth and began to read our literature. He then asked if we wanted to “Succeed (sic) from the United States.” When I answered in the affirmative (without correcting his grammatical error) he threw down the flier and could not distance himself from us fast enough. Does he think that he supports the South by getting inked with a Battle Flag, while rejecting the very principle for which our ancestors contended? So we see, that the problem is not just yankee carpetbaggers, but even Battle Flag loving Southerners who have no real clue as to what that flag means. I’ll say this, we have folks in Free Florida First that, while not born in the South, are far more dedicated Southerners and Confederates than some other folks who might have the bloodline and the ancestors. I firmly believe that their ancestors would be ashamed of them.

By the grace of God, we shall continue on and continue to proclaim the truth to those who are prepared to receive it and to those who will bristle at it.

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark

Worldwide, there is a move afoot to eliminate cash. In some places it is already virtually impossible to make the simplest of purchases without using a credit card. Great power is being entrusted to the large financial giants: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc. Soon they will be able to completely control your purchases -- They and the governments they serve.

Even as I write these words, many of the larger financial institutions are limiting their dealings with gun manufacturers. Some are seeking a way to control individual gun purchases as well. Regardless of your personal financial health, these bank card companies will be able to prevent you from selling or buying anything of which they do not approve.

These tyrants will limit not only what you are allowed to buy or sell, but whether you are allowed to buy or sell at all.

These tyrants do not want you to be armed and they would just as soon have you DEAD.

We are but a very small step from the fulfilment of the prophecy that we read in the book of Revelation:

 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. -- Revelation 13:16-17

Understand, if they can control your buying and selling of firearms, they can control your buying and selling of ANYTHING – and they can completely control you. They can require that you receive an electronic implant chip as a mark of your subservience to the global financial system and to its leaders. -- AND for, you know, SECURITY.

AND that my friend will be all she wrote:

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. -- Revelation 14:9-11 

Now is the time to decide whether you will submit or whether you will stand fast and fight. The day rapidly approaches.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. – Ephesians 6:13
